Storepro was thrilled to work on R.M. Williams‘ most recent retail store revamp, in the iconic Melbourne Central Shot Tower. The heritage-listed landmark was built in 1888 and now sits under a 84m conical roof, making it a striking centrepiece in one of Melbourne’s most popular shopping centres. As project manager, Storepro was responsible for procurement and manufacturing, while also managing the shopfitting and installation on site to ensure old and new met seamlessly.
Numerous custom fixtures were manufactured in Storepro’s facility, including light suspension recycled timber beams, angled shelving with light inserts and a bespoke wall featuring panels of leather and timber, blackened steel trims, copper shelves and lettering. Other notable features of the cool store design include the facade signage on the heritage wall, timber cladding on shopfront, 2300mm cantilevered marble top shelves and the existing ceiling timber trusses, of which Storepro revised the design for.
Given the historic nature of the building, the installation of the shopfront required excessive structural engineering, design review, and the use of two high level scaffoldings. Storepro completed the project without compromising on expectations, budget and scheduling, the structural compliance, and the safety of staff and public in one of Melbourne’s busiest shopping centres.
It was a remarkable project to undertake and Storepro looks forward to collaborating with R.M. Williams on more inspirational stores in the future.
